Intel and OEMs on the way to launch Windows 8 Tablets with new Atom Z2760


On Thursday, at an Intel-hosted event held at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Intel, manufacturers announced to launch Windows 8 tablets with new Atom processor Z2760 formerly code named Clover Trail. The device with Z2760 Processor will run up to 1.8GHz with Intel’s dual-core system.

Intel has confirmed that the “Clover Trail” will be released on 26 October together with the Microsoft’s Windows 8 OS. In the clover Trail showcase event, Intel also introduced some of the tablets coming from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Samsung, and ZTE. The device from these different manufacturers may have different processors other than the new Intel Atom Processor Z2760 codenamed Clover Trail. And as displayed in the event, the upcoming tablets Asus Vivo Tab, HP Envy X2, Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2, and Dell Latitude 10 are the one to be run with Clover Trail.


The Intel Atom Z2760 with 1.8 GHz having 32nm dual core processor can run up to 4 parallel instruction threads at a time and supports Intel Burst technology 2GB of memory including a graphics core of 533 MHz PowerVR.

The interesting features in the chip is that it will also support WiFi, 3G, 4G LTE, NFC technologies,GPS, and ability to work with a range of sensors that includes accelerometer, compass, proximity, and thermal sensors.

As Z2760 is design with low TDP it has longer battery life and less heat production. And according to Intel it is expected that the Clover Trail Tablet will have longer battery life of 9-10 hrs, but the life of battery might vary according to the model and the way of using.

The expected price & availability of the new Intel Atom Processor powered Tablets is $ 749 with Keyboard accessory, on 26th October.
