HP announces ElitePad 900 Windows 8 Tablet for business use, arriving in January Next year

Today, HP has announced its second Windows 8-based tablet called ElitePad 900 after the first Windows 8-based tablet Envy X2 last month, a consumer focused tablet. The HP ElitePad 900 is focused on business use.

The HP ElitePad 900 packs with x86Intel Atom processor, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 1080p front-facing camera. The tablet has 2GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB SSD storage, optional integrated 4G with hotspot support, and it can handle finger, stylus or voice input.

The device features a large 10.1-inch high-definition display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, weighs only 1.5 pounds, the body is 9.2-millimeter thin aluminum case, and lightweight Corning Gorilla Glass 2 covering the screen. It has stereo speakers, supports WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC wireless communication.

Designed for business customers, the ElitePad 900 is a 10.1- inch tablet with a capacitive touchscreen for user with your fingers, as well as an active digitizer and optional digital pen for writing or drawing.

The unique, productivity-enhancing ecosystem of HP Smart Jackets and additional accessories designed specifically for the HP ElitePad extend the tablet’s potential, turning it into a total enterprise solution:

HP ElitePad 900 Keyboard

As a business-oriented device, the HP ElitePad 900 features a TPM module, Bitlocker encryption, and other security features. HP also offers a self maintenance program for larger customers. This provides companies with the tools to repair the tablet in-house, without exposing sensitive data to HP or any other outside organization.

The HP ElitePad 900 is expected to be available in the United States in January 2013 and its expected  price is $699 (not official).
